Introduction

What are the rules for membership?

This community is flagged as containing explicit adult material. As such you need to be 18 or older to join. Please note that we are serious about restricting membership to adults (18 and up). Public evidence indicating that you've lied about your birthday will result in your membership being revoked.

Presently the community is no longer "members only". The default security level for posting is set to 'public'. Please keep this in mind when posting and set the security level of your post accordingly. There will be absolutely no tolerance for flaming, trolling, or picking fights. You will be removed from the community immediately for any such behavior.

What is slash?

This is a Real Person Slash community. Slash is a genre of fan fiction primarily treating of sexual or romantic relationships between two male characters. In addition, Real person slash involves taking the celebrity's public image and creating slash stories with them. (Wikipedia) If this is not your cup of tea, just move on.

In order to keep the line between fantasy and reality clear, please limit your posts to fanfic, or discussions that involve both 30STM and slash. Personal fan encounters are not legitimate fanfic, even if fictionalized. General fic (not involving either het or slash) is welcome. Limited het is allowed, especially when it reflects established relationships.

While there are a lot of fans that appreciate slash, many do not. We like to keep the slash and most of the slashy conversation inside our community.

Please do not repost other people's fics to locations outside this community, in whole or in part. Especially avoid places like Tumblr and Twitter where reposting is common, as well as the official message board.

Please never bother the band with your creations, no matter how "innocent".

As to the types of material we don't allow, here are some alternate suggestions. (All are active communities as of November 2010.)
- For icon posts, I recommend 30stm_icons or jaredleto_icons.
- For fanart, I recommend 30stm_artists.
- For general news about the band, I recommend 30stm_thisiswar or ontd_30stm.

What are the rules for posting fic?

All fics longer than drabbles (typically 100 words) should go behind a lj-cut. Please keep the header outside the cut. Additionally, please hide any explicit graphics behind a cut, and warn for "not safe for work" imagery.

If you choose to link to a fic in your personal or fic journal, please indicate that you are applying a fake cut, and include a message if you must friend your personal or fic journal to read your fics.

Please do not alter font size or color in order for all posts to be legible to all readers. Bold and italics are, of course, welcome where appropriate.

Please title your post. It makes it easier for people who want to find a fic using the archive. When you post a series, linking back to the previous chapters in your header is appreciated.

Try to use correct spelling and grammar. We understand this is not always easy, especially for non-native English speakers, but please use a spell checker, and try to find a beta reader.
